Joe Bruchac is a storyteller and writer from the Adirondack foothills of New York State. For the past twenty years, he has been actively involved in telling Native American tales from the traditions of Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) and his Abenaki ancestors. The stories on this tape are from Iroquois Stories: Heroes and Heroines, Monsters and Magic (The Crossing Press, 1985). Joe Bruchac also directs The Native American Authors Distribution Project, which sells publications by American Indian storytellers and writers at Pow Wows and by mail order.
