      Gilles Lauzon, son of Pierre Lauzon and Anne Boivin, from the city of Caen, in the Lower Normandy region of France, was the first LAUZON to settle in New France.
      He came aboard the replacement ship of the Saint Nicolas de Nantes which left the port of Saint-Nazaire on 25 June 1653 but was abandoned after only a few days. After a few weeks, the new ship took the passengers and continued on to Quebec. The voyage began on 20 July 1653 with approximately 122 passengers, most of whom were soldiers engaged for Ville Marie, La Grande recrue in 1653.
