- Origins
Jean de Chénery, Chevalier, was born about 1420.
Life
In 1455, named as chevalier or knight, was awarded by the parliament of Paris a judgment that he and his heirs were entitled to 200 hens annually beginning on the 1st of October from the merchants within the seigneury of Suippes. The judgment reduced his request for interest on past debts from the nuns of Avenay, which was 400 hens or their value in money,[1]
On 4 July 1456, there was an "Enumeration of the chatelleuie of Hans turned by Jacques III, to the Duke of Bar" where there is named "half of the Courtémont pond, formerly owned by Jean de Chenery".[2]
In that same year, Jacques III, Seigneur de Hans of the House of Grandpre, granted the sub-fiefs "les deux tiers de Dommartin-sous-Hans" and "la Grand'Court et la Petite-Court" to Jean de Chenery.[2]
Marriage and Children
The origins of his wife is unknown. They had a child:
Jeanne de Chénery[3], married Antoine du Bois, Seigneur de Manres et de Termes, the son of Josse du Bois, Seigneur de Manres et de Termes and Etiennette de Sully.[4]
Death
He died after 1456[2], the year he was granted sub-fiefs by Jacques III, Seigneur de Hans.
