Art, as he was known, died suddenly while trying to subdue a prisoner in the jail where he was Chief of Police in Momence, IL. He is buried in Momence Cemetery, Momence, IL.

Art and Effie O'Connell Moody were married in Momence by David F. Wilson, Minister of the Gospel, Methodist Church. Effie was 31 years old and Art, 27 years at the time of their marriage. On their marriage license, it lists Art's occupation as a mechanic. Witnesses to the license were Ed O'Connell, brother of the bride and Ralph Moody, brother of the groom.

They spent their married life after the death of her parents, Thomas and Rosella O'Connell, in the O'Connell family home at 125 North Walnut Street in Momence, IL.

Years after the death of Art, and Effie was elderly and needed help, her daugher, Marjorie and her family move in with her, caring for her until her death.

After the death of their daughter,Marjorie, the family home was sold, having been in the family for four generations.

The name of Arthur's mother was Elizabeth, but the last name on the marriage license is difficult to make out. It looks like Ferind or Firund.

Their daughter, Marjorie and her husband, Pershing Podach, are buried across the road, about twenty-thirty feet from them.

He died at the age of 79 yrs,7 mos. 6 days old and is buried in Momence Cemetery, Momence, Kankakee County, IL.

He is recorded as living in Beaver Township, Iroqois County, IL at the time of the Tax Record's census of 1890. On his death certificate, his wife is listed as Catherine Covan. He is also listed as having been born in Binghamton, Broome County, NY, not Chenango where the census says the family lived.

Rosella, as she was called, lived with her husband, Thomas at 125 North Walnut Street in Momence,Illinois. The house was willed to their daughter, Effie O'Connell Moody, wife of Arthur Moody and sister to Delia Louella O'Connell Wilson, my grandmother.
