Dorothy passed away in the hospital after refusing to eat anything. It was her stubborness to leave her home and go into an assisted living residence that caused her to give up. Everyone tried to persuade her it was better for her but she was determined to stay. In the end, she had to be hospitalized. She longed to die after her husband had passed away anyway. Having no children, she simply had nothing else to live for. She was a fun-loving woman in her younger days. A real beauty who loved to ice skate, she often would skate on what was known in Grant Park as the "Pit." She caught the attention of my uncle, Gaylord after he broke off with his long-time sweetheart, Mary. Gay was her one and only true love.

Dorothy married Wilson Gaylord Deerson on 03 Nov 1945 in WItchert, Kankakee County, IL.
