      }} Bergeron, André (1642-1712) son of [[Bergeron-257|Pierre Bergeron]] and of [[Marchand-113|Catherine Marchand]], was born in Saint-Saturnin-du-Bois and baptized in the church Saint-Saturnin on February 2nd, 1642. ( Godfather: André Le Sauvage; Godmother: Roguère Gandouelle.) He had a twin named Stephane. André does not know how to sign.

      {{Canada_Nouvelle-France}}André is first mentioned in the country in 1665, a migrant arriving with his father. André and his father Pierre,traveled on a boat carrying the Carignan-Salières regiment which came to pacify the Iroquois and which also brought 200 new colonists led by Governor Courcelles and Intendant Talon. Some time later Andre will be a pioneer of St-Nicolas.
      In 1667, André worked on the farm of Eustache Lambert in Pointe-de-L
      According to the internet site Racines-Rochelaises he came to New France with his father as an ''engagé'' (contract workers). They were both servants of Eustache Lambert of Lauzon.
      In 1670, he decides to launch into the working of the farm of 'Marie Laurence', ' spouse of Eustace Lambert ', located in a place called today Saint-Romuald.{{Citation Needed}}
      Then, in 1672, he acquires another concession, this time in the seigneurie of Lauzon, today Saint-Nicolas.{{Citation Needed}}
      On Sunday, July 9th, 1673, in St-Nicolas, André Bergeron marries a young neighbour, Marguerite Demers. She is the daughter of the forefather Jean Demers, native to St-Jacques in Dieppe, in Normandy and of Jeanne Voidy de Saint-Germain-du-Val, in Anjou. '''Marriage: July 09, 1673, Pointe-de-Lévy, côte-de-Lauzon.''' Contract on 9 July 1673, notary Gilles Rageot
      On the 1681 census, André Bergeron and Marguerite Demers live on the Lauzon coast near the river, in St-Nicolas. They have 6 arpents of land in culture, two cows and a gun. Between 1675 and 1701, the couple bring into the world twelve Bergeron. The first one, (1) ' Marguerite Bergeron ', born on the 6th and baptized on January 18th, 1687, in Lauzon, becomes the spouse in 1707, of 'François Fréchette', born in 1682, the son of the forefather François Fréchette and Ann Lereau. == The second, (2) 'Mary-Louise Bergeron', was born on June 30th and is baptized on July 10th, 1701, in St-Nicolas. In 1719, she marries 'Jean-François Dupont', son of the forefather Guillaume Dupont and Françoise Métayer.

      ==Research Notes==
      Notes on Children.* Marie-Anne is listed as the daughter of on PRDH, based on the 1712 Burial record. This appears to be an error. IGD names BERGERON, Marie Anne; METOT, Rene; FRICHET - Francois and LEPICART being on the record. . Present at her funeral were René Méthot and François Frichet, neither of whom could sign. [https://www.genealogiequebec.com/Membership/LAFRANCE/acte/23985 Burial Record], Genealogy Quebec, Drouin Institute, 2022, LAFRANCE This last could be Marguerite's husband, which would tie her into the family. No baptism was found for her.* Noël Bergeron B: 1701 was on the profile. A search on IGD came up empty. There is a Pierre Noël born in 1726 to André and Geneviève Duguay (i.e. his grandson) [https://www.genealogiequebec.com/Membership/LAFRANCE/acte/25031 Grandson Baptism Record]. Genealogy Quebec, Drouin Institute, 2022, LAFRANCE * Joseph BERGERON 1675-1699 was on the profile, no trace of such a boy, there is a Joseph in the family but he is born in 1699.
      Other:* According to genealogical research Priest and historian Jean-Paul Lvillage Wabmachis - Médiagraphi Edition - 1995) Andre Bergeron married Marguerite Demers who is an Algonquin from Trois-Rivières. Mr. Létourneau referred to the Indian Registry (Private) of the Diocese of Trois-Rivières. Archives are missing in the National Archives of Quebec public. This conflicts information to Marguerite Demers/Dumes' data, including the marriage record itself which clearly names her parents, who are both known to have come from France. There is a certain trend to attempt to tie families to native peoples, but there is no evidence to support such assertion in this case.
