      '''Denis Archambault'''
Denis Archambault was baptised on September 12th 1630 in Dompierre-sur-Mer, diocese of La Rochelle, Aunis (Charente-Maritime 17142), France.[http://www.archinoe.net/v2/ark:/18812/aac14cd5e52c47802a70bc32c98120bc 1630 Baptism Record] Archives départementales de Charente-Maritime, Dompierre-Sur-Mer, Paroissial Baptêmes Mariages Sépultures, 1625 - 1668, Image 19/238[https://cdn.ca.yapla.com/company/CPYzTMIWcEgoOw4JBCqrGZfhP/object/34522/240070.jpg Baptême, image Fichier, AD-17]
According to the historian Faillon, Denis was one of the brave men, who on 6 May 1651, risked their lives to help Catherine Mercier, wife of Jean Baudart. The latter was killed; the poor wife was kidnapped by the Iroquois and taken away, never to be seen again [https://numerique.banq.qc.ca/patrimoine/details/52327/2022210 ''Journal des Jésuites'' d'après le manuscrit original conservé au Séminaire de Québec; M M les abbés Laverdière et Casgrain, 1871, LÉGER BROUSSEAU, Imprimeur - Editeur (BAnQ, PDF)] pg 156, 159. The same year, on Sainte-Anne`s day, 60 Iroquois attacked Ville-Marie, particularily the hospital. [[Closse-19|Lambert Closse]] and his men continued this struggle throughout the whole day. Denis Archambault was killed outright when a cannon was used for the third time and burst. He was buried the same day of 26 July 1651.[https://www.genealogiequebec.com/Membership/LAFRANCE/img/acte/48694 Sépulture-Funeral image Denis Archambault] Collection Drouin, IGD (Membership) (Latin text)
