Jean Baptiste Baudreau dit Graveline arrived in the Louisiana Colony in 1700 {with Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville on board the ship La Renomme. In 1702, Baudreau dit Graveline abandoned Biloxy and with his French cohorts, relocated to Fort Saint Louis in Old Mobile, north of the location of the present city. He became one of the wealthiest men in the colony trading furs, ships, and later cattle and agricultural goods. He also traded frequently with the American Indian tribes in the area and only had two documented children, both of which were half Indian. Land Grant on Pascagoula River dated April 24, 1719. Marriage to Suzanne Suzanne or Susanne partnered with Jean Baptiste Baudreau by 1717 (birth of son) and that they were formally married on 7/3/1727 "in the presence of John B. Boudreaux Jr., son of the contracting parties, aged 10 years, is legitimized by this marriage". Note that the source below does not give her last name.“I a missionary Priest and Curate of Mobile in the course of my mission and within my jurisdiction on the river capiene having accorded and dispensed the three banns by the authority which I had received from my superior and vicar General the Bishop of Quebec, have received the mutual consent of John Baptiste Boudreaux of Graveline now a resident of Capiene, and of Suzanne, an Indian, in the presence of John B. Jean (68) married Marthe LaVergne (1739) in 1740. citation needed. His will supposedly written in 1750 does not mention this second wife but no original source was added to verify.

Second wife Suzanne Many online family trees suggest alternate names for her such as Margueritte Emashapa Panyouasas, or Susanne Sauset. However, no original sources are included with these online family trees to support either being the same person as "Suzanne, an Indian". In fact, they were with different spouses during overlapping time periods. Please review The Panyouasas Questions for a discussion.
10/1713, Suzanne died on Dauphin Island, AL. (S) 10/1713 letter of Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac. (S) Old Mobile, P442. Moved this to research notes as she could not have died in 1713 if she had a son in 1717 and married the father in 1727. Others claim she was an earlier wife of Jean Baptiste which is unsourced.(Bourque-573 15:14, 4 September 2025 (UTC))
He has a daughter here married to Pacquet, who was given a birth year of 1710 (her bio says 1708) and mother Suzanne. She was a natural daughter, meaning they weren't married. It appears to be from a marriage record, but no link to verify the original. She was not included in the marriage of Suzanne to Jean Baptiste to legitimize her even though her brother was specifically named and given his age. Could that be because she was already married in 1726? The original source isn't linked so I can't verify the claim of the name Pany. The transcription doesn't say that. Either she is added to the biography or the mother Suzanne should be removed from her. I would lean toward adding her to the biography. In 1725 JB had two children and it would be these two as far as is known.(Bourque-573 15:14, 4 September 2025 (UTC))
I think this sentence in the unsourced paragraph above "He married an Indian woman Susanne and had a son Jean Baptiste Baudreau. Susanne later died and Jean Baptiste then married Magdelen Pany. He and Magdelen had Magdelen Baudreau who married Pierre Paquet." is misleading. The sequence of births could not be that, as Magdelen who married Pierre Paquet was married August 1726. The son JB is documented as born 1717. If this JB remarried and then had Magdelen, she would not be old enough to marry in 1726. She had to have been born earlier.(Bourque-573 15:14, 4 September 2025 (UTC))
