Marie Louise was born around 1723. She was the daughter of [[Brisard-9|Jean Baptiste Brisard dit St-Germain]] and [[Gerlaise-16|Marie Anne Gerlaise]].

Note: Marguerite is noted as a nickname as it appears on the marriage record of her daughter Marguerite's as her name as mother. Probably clerical error, but included for tracking purposes.
===Marriage===Jacques Cottu married Marie Louise Brizard dite St-Germain, around spring 1748; first known child born in March 1751, would most likely have been in Maskinongé as that was place of birth and residence for Marie Louise, and common usage was a girl lived in and married from her father's house, although not always. The marriage conventions were done by the parish priest of St-Joseph of Maskinongé, due to the absence of a notary for the area then. The records for that parish only start in 1728, with a gap between 1733 and November 1748.
Conventions de mariage faites entre Jacques Coutu et Louise Brizard St-Germain déposées chez le notaire [[Adhemar-9|Jean Baptiste Adhémar]] le 15 mars 1748. Les conventions sont faites devant le prêtre faisant les fonctions curiales à St-Joseph de Maskinongé. Daniel Coutu et Catherine sansfaçon, parents de Jacques, ont donné leur consentement; Marie Anne Jarlaye mère de Louise a donné son consentement. Au cas qu'il n'y aurait pas d'enfants, les futurs se font don mutuel de tous leurs biens au dernier survivant. Les conventions sont faites dans la maison curiale de St-Joseph de Maskinongé le 22 janvier 1748 en présence de Daniel Coutu et Catherine Sansfaçon, parents de Jacques, René et Catherine Coutu ses frère et soeur, et de la part de Louise, Marie Anne Jarlaye sa mère, Alexis et Jean Brizard ses frères, Marie Joseph et Marguerite ses soeurs, Jean Jarlaye son oncle maternel et Catherine Aubé sa tante, François, Antoine et Joseph Jarlaye ses cousins, les témoins étant François Bary Ducheny et François Martin; seults Catherine Aubé et Ducheny signent (plus une signature non-citée dans l'acte), avec le prêtre de St-Joseph de Maskinongé, Mercier.
