- Isaac, brother to Mary Santee Loghry, buried at Brown's Crossing, is the only one whose tombstone is still intact in the cemetery. He died at the age of 84 years. His first wife, Nancy Moore, daughter of John and Mary Loghry Moore is buried next to him.
According the the Historical Gazetteer, Part First, Steuben County, NY; Compiled by Millard F. He was a lumberman in Cameron and probably a soldier in the War of 1812 out of PA.
The Santee family lived in New Jersey where Isaac was born in 1780, prior to moving to Huntington township, Luzerne county, PA shortly after that year. In 1810 he married Nancy Moore, who was bron in 1794, daughter of John and Mary Moore. In 1817 they settled at West Cameron, Steuben county, NY when Isaac's name first appears on the town's records. Their third child, John, was born that year.
They settled on the Charles Peck farm, where they afterward remained, his house standing a few rods west of the present residence on that place. He conducted a tavern and was engaged in farming, lumbering and operated a sawmill.
Mr. Santee was prominent in town and church affairs. He was one of the two School Commissioners of Addison township in 1819 and Town Clerk in 1820. He was one of the five delegated from Cameron to the "Anti-rent" convention, held at Bath, January 19, 1830, called "to take into consideration the "condition of the settlers in Pultney and Hornby estates." he was the fifth supervisior of Cameron township serving for the year of 1833 to 1836, inclusive. He was Class leader of the regularly organized religious society in town, which was formed in 1834, at West Cameron. Early meetings were held alsoat the house of Isaac Santee, who was the first class-leader, and afterwards at the school-house near. Luther White was the first steward. Isaac Santee and wife, Phones Green and wife, and Luther White were early members.
To Isaac and Nanncy Santee were born: Mary (Luther White), Lettice (Peter ?, Drake), John (Rachel Stephens), Joseph (Eliza Sherwood), William (Amy Williamson), James (C. Cole), Jesse (Susanna Williamson) and Tamilia (A. Baker)
