  Notes	He was suppose to have served in the navy of the Netherlands and was severally wounded in the Battle of Sole bay 25 Jul. 1665. After he recovered, he removed to Albany, New York. The first mention of his name in America appears in Albany records when he was a witness in a lawsuit 6 April 1680. He is called Van Bommel in the records of the city of Albany, in the Court Minutes and in the Dutch Church register. The surname is found written as Knickerbakker and Knickerbocker.
