    Notes:

    Adam Shearer jr. is the son of Adam and Mary Shearer. He has one sister Mary Shearer who married Christian Coach. He was born in Brooklyn NY. His family moved to Eau Claire approx. 1866. He died of consumption (pulmonary tuberculosis). My father Richard Shearer always said he died of pheumonia crossing the marsh (at the lower end of our farm) on his way back from Eau Claire. If this is correct I suspect he was visiting his mother (Mary Shearer), sister (Mary & Christian Coach), and the nephews & niece.

    Adam married Harley Matilda Beguhn on 19 Aug 1878 in Eau Claire, Eau Claire, WI, USA. Matilda (daughter of Beguhn John and Harley Jacobina) was born on 25 Oct 1864 in Twn Spring Brook, Dunn County, WI, USA; died on 30 Oct 1909 in Twn Spring Brook, Dunn County, WI, USA; was buried in Iron Creek Cmtry, Twn Spring Brook, WI, USA.     Notes:

    Matilda was born out of wedlock. Her father was John Beguhn, Her mother was Jacobina Harley, Daughter of Louis and Cathrine Harley (Ludwig and Katrina Harle). After the death of Adam Shearer jr. Matilda remarried to George Harvey. They had two children Nellie and Della. Matilda died of a Pelvis Absess for 8 days and Peritonitis for 3 days. The doctor was F.E. Bulter

  1. 12.  Shearer Adam Sr. was born about 1821 in Germany; died on 22 Jan 1882 in RR# 2 Twn Union, Eau Claire, WI, USA; was buried in Lake View Cemtry, Eau Claire, WI, USA.

    Notes:

    Adam Shearer Sr. Came to America some time Between 1840-1850. He had two children Adam and Mary. He was in the New York State Militia. Adam Scherrer Co. A, 56th N.Y. National Guard, Adam Sherrer Co. A, 84th N.Y.S.M. Infantry, and Adam Scherer Co. H, 52nd N.Y. National Guard.

    After the war he Moved his family to Monroe County, WI, sometime between 1884 and 1866.

    Then they moved to Eau Claire, where his daughter states in a letter to the War Department that Adam purchased a saloon on Water Street (now occupied by Mc Donalds) in Eau Claire from L. L. Lancaster & Sarah P. Lancaster (Lot 14 in Block 23) for $400.00, on September 26, 1866. They owned the saloon for about 2 years.

    Later they bought a farm in the Town of Union, Eau Claire,( on HWY 12 just outside of Eau Claire.) (Now owned by Menard's) where they lived for the rest of their lives.

    Mary (Shearer) seems to be well educated, she signed the Deed to purchase the farm in the Town of Union. Both she and her husband Adam left wills just before their demise.
