Lakota/Dakota Guestbook

Thank you for visiting our pages.
Thank you I have found some infor on my geneology but there seems to be in big gap in this somewhere between the massacre of the buffalo's and then to our massacre in wounded knee. So I'm figuring that maybe I really ascented from my grandmother's Julia side of the geneolgy and have found I may even be French from Paris France. And not from both Rosebud and Pine Ridge. From my grandmothers Victoria Little Crow. Thank you littlcrow- crazybear-ernestbeavers

I hope you aren't asking for hand outs or donations cause I sure am Sioux myself and a lad I am indeed. It's ironic how we call that place home. I am in help I came across this for geneology purpose I find nothing of Julie and Owen Little Crow but find my mothers relations in Pine Ridge. It so strange that Rosebud used to booming and had all the tactician one could want Times must rougher cause everything moved to that side for bad raw deal. I'm sorry for the state of country too. I'm sure mother earth is not very happy and the stars her brothers and sisters too.

I hope your not asking for hand out cause I'm sioux. In need also I talked to home and I need to have that exam. Funny we still call that place home. I try to find some geneology can't find nothing on Julie and Owen little crow ironic I can find my mother's relative in Pine Ridge times must be hard I remember rosebud had the booming raw end of the deal. Season change so does mother earth and her stars.

Hello my name is Esmeralda, I am Mexican American. I am very proud to be the daughter of hard working Mexican parents. I have just been very interested in Native American history and recently on a trip I made through Arizona and New Mexico I heard some native powwow music and it had my heart pounding to the beat of the drums. I've always felt this great passion to learn more not only on Native American Indians but also on Aztec culture.

Your site is really great and listening to the songs was emotional. The songs registred by Mrs Densmore give a good glimpse into the past. I often read about them for years now, but its the first time that I am able to listen. I find your pages layout + explanations excellent. I'll return on your pages. Please keep me posted if one day you move. Thank you

I am not a Native American. My son is a Boy Scout and I was offended by the use of native american costumes and symbols in the Order of the Arrow Ceremony. Native american costumes/symbols/dancing really have nothing to do with Scouting. The Scouting Organization needs to come up with their own uniforms for ceremonies that reflect the Scouting orgazations past not someone else's Native American sacred culture. The Scouting Organziation in Texas running the show are caught in a time warp and they are losing membership because they are offending a lot of folks in this country because they are clueless. It's sort of --what group are they gonna offend next. It's no wonder they are being kicked out of public facilities. The only losers are the poor inner city kids that depend on Scouting for affordable summer camps and activites.

I had a dream about someone named Dave Acon (or a variation of this) who was of the Lakota and was a singer and flute player. The dream was especially real to me because I saw a white two-cassette set with matching book entitled, "When the Horizon Rises to Meet You." If there is such a person, please let me know. I helped them to sell their tapes and give 50% of the profits to Native Americans at large in my dream. I hope this doesn't sound crazy to you but maybe it is the future? Please email me if this is you or someone that you know.

So Sorry...I was not sure how this works. LOL! I am desparately trying to trace my ancestory....the paper-trail, if I can. If someone that is up in MN can help me, I would be so very grateful. Nothing is making sense about my Dad's side. He lived next to the Brule Lakota - the white man, calls it, the "Lower Sioux Reservation".....anyone with any information regarding it or Morton, MN please email me. I would be so very grateful. Thank you very much! :-)

I am so glad I found this site. I am 50 and am part Souix of Dakota. I was put up for adoption when I was three, and I found my father Running Bear ( Ugene) at the time he was very ill and dieing, and told me of my anchesters. I always knew I was of proud people. My father past on, but when he past he took my proof of heritage with him. I hope some day that I would be honored to be acepted into my rightful place in with my people. All I have from my father is his eagle feather and a painting that he did of a bald eagle. I can not find any one to help me, Please write me, I would love to hear from anyone and I will send pic of myslef. My father told me that we are related to Buffalow Women. I am enjoying this site, and have been reading all I can. May the Spirits be with You all, Litte Eagle

Here's some questions for the FAQs: How come all websites like this are put up, hosted or created by non-Indians such as yourselves? What gives non-Natives the right to portray themselves as Native and put up wisdom that is not theirs on the internet for all other culture vultures? Answer: Because only non-Indians have the audacity to speak of Native culture as if it belonged to them. Only non-Native have the audicity to speak of "respect" and then be so disrespectful to real-life Indians and their culture!

I have read about your thought's about starting a drum group. And I agree on most of what is said. The language and the art's,and the music,is most sacred. And should be done in a respectful way.But it bothers me that some Natives think that someone who is none native,or is part Native ,but look's White,is making a mockery of our way's!. I do not beleive this is the case.I think that they are honest, and have a good heart, and should be taught!,not ridiculed,or put down!.Being caleed a wannabe!.WE have a saying!. Mitakuye Oyasin!(We are all Related) If we beleive this, then stop with the prejudging, and start edgicating thease people, showing them the right way to do thease thing's.If they have the good heart to practice our way's.Then they should be commended, and taught in a good way.It can only bring our races closer together, and it makes us look good in the creators eyes. Walk in peace....Toksa!

I realy enjoyed your web sight. And I wanted to say that I totaly agree with the fact that too many non-native people are trying to take what does not belong to them even if they are sincear. Being a non -native person that has native son, and being honored to sit at Lakota drum I do not believe that non -native persons have the right or the corret knoledge to start their own circle. most of the ones that I have seen have made me very ashamed. Thank you for sharing that with those who might do the wrong thing.

I was a scouter for 20 years. Eagle scout, vigil member, founders award, man of the year twice, camp staff. I spent my last 5 years trying to get everyone to do the right think in NJ. All I did was waste my time. The problem is all of the old timers who refuse to change their 1950's ways. I saved 1 person out of 5 OA dance teams. He now sings on our drum and is heading the Florida State University powwow next year. Keep up the good work and maybe these old timers will finally see the light.

I would like to apologize to all. I misunderstood this site's stance on non-native American drumming. I am sorry. It has never been my wish to "steal" your culture. I am proud of my own. I beleive all cultures have something to offer the world. Yours certainly has many great and beautiful teachings. If I were a Native-American I would be proud of it. I would also like to say that beyond our cultures, we are all human beings. Blessings to all!

The infermation that you have is very nice. My biological dad lives in Rose Bud rez in South Dakota and I was able to get the information on the pow wow there and I can go to the pow wow and see my father for the very first time in my life. My boyfriend has friends that has been to pow wows there and you guys always gave them a gift, a horse and they had no way to transport the horse back so it wasn't very nice, I don't have any beef with the chippewa and he has no beef with me. Meeting my father Percy Kitto will be a great treat for me. I get to see someone that looks like me, not the whites or the other band of indians that are here. take care, Stahr Cleereman

Hi, at this time my englisch is very very... bad. But my wish from my heart is now to write thanks about this wounderful page. My parents and so am I , are from Jugoslavia but I was burn in Austria. It makes me very very... sad when I have to see the people on this world how they destroy our MOTHER EARTH. People said to me that I am lost in my dreams. But cross this dreams and my hope I can live longer. But now I know it wouldnÍt be any longer in Vienna. IÍm hungry from my soul to live outside of this zivilisation, because IÍm a naturelover. In 7 years IÍll have to learn englisch to get information where IÍll want to stay may be forever for the rest of my live. At this moment IÍm learning to hear my feeling deep inside me. It shows me my way.(Everybody on this world has this feeling deep inside it, you only have to use time for yourself, to hear this feeling, but I think all this people on this side know this) Also in my dreams in the night because I am dreaming 20 years mostly from animals. Now so long later I know that this animals in my dreams always try to help me but I didnÍt understand that. Now I read very good books (SUN BEAR,Joan Halifax, Patton L. Boyle,...(IÍm only on the beginning) and this books give me hope. Also this wonderful page. Thank you. IÍll pray for all people, animals and natural on this grand mothers earth.

thank you for an incredible site. Information overload, and everything and more that I needed. I work with crow, raven, eagle energies through my art, come creative interests. The simpliest way I found of preserving crows wings and feet, were simply to pin the wing out on a board and wait for 4-6 wks keeping it in a dry place. The feet I packed in salt in a container with the claws clutching a crystal ball to spread the tallons. The informations on whipping the feathers is perfect for today, inside, blowing outside, fire on and the footy for my husband. love and light as the crow flys. Bethwyn

As a foster child, I wasn't told about my herritage. It was when I met my biological mother I was told about my Great-Great Grandfather who was 100% Lakota of the Hunkpapas I know that when he was born he was called "Slow". After all of the foster homes and cultures, at 40 years old I am trying so hard to discover myself without seeming pretetious. I love seeing the pictures on the internet, I get an indescribable feeling,I need to see every inch of every face, every piece of beadwork, read everything. Thank you so much.

I like this page very much. Wish you had songs with words here. Like sing along. Not that I can sing, but would enjoy it anyway. I am sure others would also. I think Indian music is so nice. I have heard Hawaiian music and it says words of meaning all for the Islands. Just as out music has words all for our nation. Keep up good work. Mary Lightfoot (White Dove)
