Canyon Records
Singers: Ben Gray Hawk, leader; Matt Black Dog, James Black Dog, Clifford Young Bear, Jerry White Cloud, Archie Bear Cub.
This album was recorded at Fort Qu'Appelle Summer Pow-Wow 1971, held at the Standing Buffalo Reserve, For Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, Canada.
An Indian Pow-Wow usually opens with a flag song. In this case there were two flag songs. Band 1 is the Canadian Flag song, recorded by special arrangement by the Sioux Valley Singers of Griswold, Manitoba.
Many fine Indian drums from both the United States and Canada sang at this Pow-Wow. The Fort Kipp Sioux Singers of Montana is featured on this album.
The Fort Kipp Singers of Montana is one of the great singing groups of the Northern Plains. They've been singing together since leaving the U.S, Armed Services after World War II. Their voices are vigorous, and they show the cohesiveness of a group that has sung together over a long period. They are much in demand at pow-wows and celebrations in the Northern Plains States and Canada.
They have been recipients of many honors, among them Regina Beach, Canada, trophy; Fort Yates, North Dakota, honors; Oil Celebration Trophy at Poplar, Montana.

Canadian Flag Song Sioux Valley Singers When the Queen needs me,
Under the flag will I serve
Above me it will always be flying.

United States Flag Song Following the Canadian song, the Pow-Wow Committee honored the U.S.A., asking the Fort Kipp Singers for a United States Flag Song, as the United States Flag was raised. We respect the Constitution of the United States
And the Red, White, and Blue.
May it wave long and proudly, and never fall.
