Additional Info: The University of Winnipeg Aboriginal Student Council is hosting its 8th ANNUAL SPRING POWWOW, "Honouring Children in Care in Canada". Registration: 11:00 am. Grand Entry: 1:00 & 7:00 pm. Community Feast: 5:00 pm. Special guest speakers include Beatrice Mosionier, author of "In Search of April Raintree", and Dr. Lloyd Axworthy - President of the University of Winnipeg. Additional Info: Fire code regulations set the capacity limit for the building around 700 people. The event will be free, however, wristbands will be required for entry and re-entry to ensure building capacity is not exceeded. Wristbands will be provided upon entry. First come first serve basis.
Lakehead University Students who wish to attend will receive priority notice, and may obtain a wrist band in advance of the event. More details to follow on this closer to the event date.
We are currently in the planning process.
Drum Groups: 4 singers required at registration. Honorarium limited to first 12 registrations. Please note, due to our limited floor space, drums will interchange between the afternoon and evening sessions. Last year we were lucky to have over 25 drum groups. This year we will be rotating 10 drums for each grand entry (not all drums on floor at the same time).May 28-30:

Kitigan Zibi Traditional pow wow.
Location: Maniwaki, Quebec.
Directions: From Ottawa, Ontario you will be coming from the "417" (queensway) either westbound or eastbound, look for the "Nicholas St." exit. From there look for the signs guiding you to Hull, Quebec. This should place you on "highway 5" North which then turns into "highway 105" North which will bring you right into Maniwaki.
Note: The community of Kitigan Zibi is approx. one and a half hours from the Hull_Ottawa area, or 140 KM.
Kitigan Zibi is just before the township of Maniwaki, while still on highway 105 look for a grocery store called "KZ Freshmart" which will be coming on your right hand side. You will be turning left at this point & signs will be posted in order to guide you to the Pow Wow grounds.
